Fallow deer were first liberated within New Zealand in 1864, and originated from Richmond Park, Surrey. Fallow deer, one of the most attractive of the deer family, were among the first of eight species of deer that have been successfully introduced to New Zealand. While fallow was initially introduced for sporting purposes, fallow is now also hunted for is unique taste. |
